About The Position

The Workstation and Systems Engineering Lead oversees the design, development, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise workstation and server operating system images across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. This role ensures secure, compliant, and efficient image management while providing Tier 3 engineering support.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Experience with workstation and server OS/image development and management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Intune, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
  • Experience with enterprise patch management in on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/Agile delivery and ITIL-based service processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills supporting Tier 3 environments.
  • Bachlor's Degree
  • Eligible for Public Trust (NRC IT1)

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of enterprise “gold” workstation and server images.
  • Manage image lifecycle, version control, patching, and updates (OS, firmware, BIOS, drivers).
  • Support Windows-based environments (primary) and Apple systems (limited use).
  • Ensure compatibility with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and cloud services (e.g., M365).
  • Perform functional testing within development and test environments prior to deployment.
  • Maintain compliance with federal security standards (FISMA, NIST, DISA STIGs).
  • Support structured Change Control Board (CCB) processes.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for workstation/server image and patch-related issues.
  • Collaborate with security, asset management, EUC teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment and lifecycle support.
