About The Position

The systems engineer will be responsible for leading an interdisciplinary team, designing, implementing, maintaining, and sustaining space mission engineering, including mission design, analysis, and operations. Our Spectral Systems teams serve a broad array of government, civil, and commercial customers by enhancing information superiority, contributing to our national security and providing actionable data for the protection of property and human life. We specialize in high-reliability airborne and space-based remote sensing payloads that offer active and motion imaging and data processing, exploitation and dissemination. We also provide solutions that map and monitor the earth for a variety of commercial and governmental users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Security+ certification
  • Minimum 5 years in Cameo Systems Modeler or similar MBSE tools
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and Familiarity with markup languages
  • Professional experience with microservice architecture and its application in software systems
  • Product Owner, CAM, or IPTL experience
  • Experience decomposing complex requirements into detailed specifications
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Systems
  • Experience with Test Procedure/Use Case Verification
  • Experience automating software GUIs
  • Experience with Eggplant or other automation tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other MBSE tools and frameworks
  • Knowledge of space systems and subsystems, including spacecraft design and operations
  • Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner)
  • MBSE Certification
  • Experience with systems engineering standards and best practices
  • Weather and antenna/RF experience

Responsibilities

  • Support the product/program full life cycle including advanced R&D, capture, proposals, design, integration & test, verification, and sustainment.
  • Lead an interdisciplinary team as a Product Owner, CAM, IPTL in space mission engineering, including mission design, analysis, and operations.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to develop and manage system models using Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Design and implement software systems to support space mission engineering.
  • Decompose high-level requirements into detailed, actionable specifications.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents, and test plans.
  • Support the verification and validation of system requirements through rigorous testing and analysis.
  • Train operators on system usage and provide support for customer testing.
  • Debug user-facing GUIs using representative operational data.
  • Ability to obtain a NOAA Public Trust.
