About The Position

The Workplace Consultant is responsible for developing, managing, and growing customer relationships within the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and industrial supply market. This role focuses on helping customers reduce downtime, improve safety, and control operational costs through consultative selling, product expertise, and service-driven solutions. The Industrial Sales Representative identifies new business opportunities, expands share-of-wallet within existing accounts, and partners cross-functionally to deliver reliable, compliant, and value-driven industrial supply programs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have at the time of hire and maintain throughout employment, a valid Non CDL-C drivers’ license, free of major infractions and acceptable to our insurance carrier.
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to work independently, investigates problems, initiate solutions, work under deadline constraints and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professional manner and personal appearance.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including sensitivity and ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate records and data files.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for industrial and MRO customers.
  • Build long-term partnerships with maintenance, facilities, safety, procurement, and operations leaders.
  • Conduct regular site visits to understand applications, usage, and operational challenges.
  • Proactively support customer satisfaction, retention, and contract growth.
  • Coordinate with internal customer service, purchasing, and logistics teams to ensure reliable service execution.
  • Manage credit applications and payment terms in accordance with company policy.
  • Prospect and develop new industrial accounts through networking, referrals, job site visits, and digital tools.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding customer environments, spend categories, and decision processes.
  • Execute structured sales activity including discovery meetings, plant walkthroughs, product demonstrations and follow-ups.
  • Prepare quotations, sourcing solutions and contract pricing aligned with margin and compliance guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline and activity records within CRM.
  • Participate in daily and weekly sales meetings to align priorities and execution.
  • Conduct detailed needs assessments across MRO categories including safety, janitorial, electrical, tools, fasteners, material handling, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop application-based product solutions that improve safety, productivity, and cost control.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal resources to deliver alternative sourcing, standardization and value engineering.
  • Support customers with inventory management, product substitutions, and compliance-driven solutions.
  • Resolve pricing, sourcing, delivery and authorization challenges collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Communicate Intivity’s value as a reliable, responsive, and consultative industrial supply partner.
  • Position Intivity’s MBE status, service capabilities, and supplier partnerships as competitive advantages.
  • Represent Intivity at industry events, safety trainings, plant meetings, and trade shows.
  • Promote programs such as vendor consolidation, spend visibility and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, service models, and product positioning.
  • Identify customer trends related to safety compliance, sustainability, labor shortages, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide feedback to leadership and marketing to support strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Build relationships with facility managers, safety managers, and procurement teams to gain early visibility into upcoming needs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education, vendor training, and industry workshops.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with peers through team meetings, informal mentoring and collaborative problem solving.
  • Actively participate in training on CRM tools, sales methodology and product lines to continuously improve performance and client value delivery.
  • Stay current on Intivity’s processes, pricing updates, and service capabilities to ensure accurate and confident client communication.
  • Achieve assigned revenue, margin, and growth objectives.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and reporting discipline.
  • Operate in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Contribute positively to team culture and cross-functional collaboration.
