About The Position

Working Foreman – 100% Travel Spriggs Excavation is recruiting for a full-time, 100% travel position. This role requires continuous travel to project sites across multiple states based on business needs and project schedules. Employees in this position should expect to be assigned to one location for an extended period—such as several months at a time—before transitioning to another project in a different state. For example, an assignment may begin in Texas, then move to Colorado, and later transition to New Mexico. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work wherever projects are located are essential requirements of this role. Spriggs Excavation is a General Civil Contractor operating primarily in the Rocky Mountain, Western, and Midwest regions. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and an experienced team to specialize in electrical substation, renewable energy, and residential excavation projects. We have demonstrated our commitment to quality, performance, and safety with over 15 years of superior performance. Job Summary: We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Foreman experienced in large earthmoving projects. As a Foreman you will oversee construction activities at your assigned jobsite. This includes ensuring work is performed safely and meets productivity and quality goals. You will provide guidance and mentorship to crew members, assist with project documentation and ensure accurate accounting of productivity metrics.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use and maintenance of various types of heavy equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate machinery.
  • Thorough understanding of GPS systems and how they are utilized in heavy earthmoving activities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of operating experience.
  • Workplace safety practices.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
  • Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time, using safe and proper lifting techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
  • Work with Superintendent onsite and other foremen to develop daily job tasks.
  • Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to develop crew members.
  • Assist with the set-up of GPS systems.
  • Operates heavy earthmoving equipment such as dozers, loaders, scrapers, excavators or motor graders while leading a crew to perform the assign task.
  • Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes and ensures all crew members do the same.
  • Maintains records of time worked and materials used.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Complete and discuss JHA with crews every day before work starts.
