About The Position

KLEO Community Family Life Center (KLEO) is seeking a qualified and experienced Workforce Support Specialist to provide integrated academic and navigational support for all initiatives under KLEO’s Workforce Development Programs. This role serves as the primary contact for participants, managing the journey from initial intake through technical training and employment retention. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring the academic health of training cohorts—specifically within the TradeUP and Rise UP programs—while providing intensive case management to mitigate barriers and ensure long-term career success for equity-eligible residents.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on individualized participant attention.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate tutoring and wrap-around services.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and the ability to manage a diverse caseload with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willing to travel to support program activities (Approximately 10%).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in adult literacy, remedial math coaching, or test-taking strategies is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of state-funded workforce programs (WIOA, IL Works) and a background in supporting individuals with systemic barriers to employment.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheets-based tracking technology or similar data management environments.

Responsibilities

  • Intake & Assessment: Serve as the initial contact for participants, performing formal intake and developing an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) or Individualized Care Coordination Plan.
  • Academic Framework: Monitor participant attendance and academic progress daily, creating the necessary framework for mastery of technical curricula like NCCER Core or MC3.
  • Educational Intervention: Organize and host math-focused tutoring, make-up sessions, and post-assessment retakes to ensure participants master required construction math and certification exams.
  • Intensive Case Management: Maintain a dedicated caseload, providing frequent follow-up, job coaching, and referrals to address non-academic barriers.
  • Employment Retention: Provide ongoing post-placement support and retention services for up to 90–180 days to ensure long-term career stability.
  • Compliance Documentation: Maintain accurate, computerized records of all academic assessments, training sessions, and case management notes in the IWRS or relevant funder databases.
  • Performance of other duties as needed or assigned.
