Under the guidance of the Workforce Education Coordinator, the appointed instructor will specialize in teaching English as a Second Language Commercial Driver Training (ESL CDT) courses. The curriculum has been developed and will be provided to the successful candidate, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality, effective instruction to our students. It includes specific ESL CDT terminology lessons and ESL CDT Class A/B Permit courses. These offerings are part of the Integrated Education and Training (IET) program provided by Adult Education, in partnership with Yavapai College's CDT certificate program. The selected candidate will receive comprehensive training on the specialized Commercial Driver Training (CDT) material to ensure they are well-equipped to effectively instruct students in this discipline. Responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction; program and class recruitment; curriculum development; participation in the on-campus college community, continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and collaboration with the Workforce Education Coordinator. Incumbents may be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which she/he is able to be credentialed or trained. The chosen candidate will 1. Be the primary Instructor for the ESL CDT program. 2. Build and maintain post-secondary ESL courses needed (to include lesson plans and text as needed) that link with the established post-secondary program. 3. Coordinate with our workforce team to create relevant business partnerships in the community. In addition, the instructor should be open to both traditional (16-week) and compressed course design (i.e., 8-week classes). The instructor can expect to participate in innovative forms of assessment and should be willing to utilize OER when possible.
