About The Position

The Workforce Development Coordinator will lead, support, and expand career readiness and workforce development initiatives for youth and young adults across the YMCA of Muncie service areas, including Delaware and Counties. This role will ensure effective planning, facilitation, evaluation, and partnership engagement to empower participants with critical career skills and work experience through a variety of immersive programming.

Requirements

  • At least21years of age.
  • Must be able to pass background screenings.
  • Six months or morepreviousexperience with young adults preferred.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certificationsrequiredwithin30 daysof hire.
  • Child Abuse Prevention Training prior to first shift.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Bachelor’s degree inEducation, Social Work, Human Services, Workforce Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in youth programming, workforce development, or community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Must be able to travel regionally to program sites (e.g.,Camp Crosley,East Central Indiana).
  • Must have a clean driving recordand be able to pass the authorizeddriver test given by YMCA insurer
  • Occasional evening and weekend hoursarerequired.
  • Must pass background check and child abuse prevention training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with community partnerships, work-based learning, or grant programs preferred.
  • Proficiencyin data entry, reporting tools, and digital platforms

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate cohort visits, career readiness sessions, andprofessional learning experiences.
  • Coordinateprofessional development opportunitiesat multiple sites, ensuring session content is aligned with skill development outcomes.
  • Support facilitation ofcertification programsand job-readiness training modules.
  • Serve asliaisonwith local schools (principals, counselors), post-secondary institutions, and community partners.
  • Support mentor engagement for theworkforce developmentprogram and collaborate withother youth serving organizations to support their career readinesseventsandprogramming.
  • Coordinate early outreach initiatives (e.g., information nights, marketing, newsletters).
  • Oversee placement of participants in work experience roles in:Youth Development,MembershipandWellness & Health Services
  • Guide participants in portfolio creation, including verification forms and letters of engagement.
  • Provide 1:1 support for youth throughout work-based learning, including evaluations and graduation pathway alignment.
  • Administer Hello Insight pre/post surveys.
  • Collect data for quarterly reportsandimpactreporting.
  • Supportstudentregistrationfor workforce developmentprogram.
  • Ensure consistent recordkeeping, session attendance, and evaluation follow-through.
  • Support onboarding and continuous training for youth, volunteers, and staff.
