About The Position

Make a difference in the life of a nurse! As a nurse educator, you will work closely with Broward College-Health Sciences Administrators to identify and implement short-term educational strategies designed to strengthen the healthcare sector, while addressing the nursing shortage. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum Experience/Training: Active Florida RN Licensure. Five (5) consecutive years of theoretical and clinical experience in specialty nursing, serving in fulltime capacity. Ability to teach specialty topics to healthcare professionals. Strong management skills required. Essential Functions: Daily - 30%: Teaches in-person courses including theoretical, clinical, and simulation-based instruction, using effective learning strategies, engaging lectures, and innovative/interactive activities. Daily 20%: Executes the programmatic educational plan, ensuring smooth operations of logistics for educational activities. Quarterly - 10%: Makes recommendations for adjunct faculty related to staffing and training. Monthly - 10%: Assists in the development of new programs to meet the changing needs of the healthcare community and works with partners to ensure Nurse Specialty training initiatives meet community healthcare needs. Monthly - 10%: Assist with integration of patient care simulation into the curriculum; oversees staff in the development, implementation, and evaluations of patient care simulation activities. Monthly 10%: Participates in meetings as a representative of the college, as needed. Other - 10%: Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Coordinate and direct training programs, including assist in scheduling, curriculum development and implementation, staffing, and instruction. Strong and effective communication skills. Effectively communicates with students. General understanding of healthcare environments and how it impacts academia. Strong managerial and collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower stakeholders. Ability to diagnose, plan and manage available resources required for program success. Ability to influence others of the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment. Strong negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement among colleagues.
