Workforce Development Intern
About The Position
Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) uses the power of basketball to create transformative opportunities for young people, especially those from under-resourced communities, to reach their full potential as students, athletes, and leaders. Through high-quality programming, education initiatives, and community partnerships, PYB supports youth from early childhood through young adulthood with a focus on wellness, equity, and opportunity. Our impact is driven by the strength of our people, programs, and systems. The Workforce Development Intern will support the Varsity Trades Academy, a program focused on connecting young adults to careers in the skilled trades. This role provides hands-on experience in workforce programming, participant support, outreach, and career pathway development.
Requirements
- Interest in workforce development, community engagement, or nonprofit programming
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Self-starter with attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and execution of training sessions and workshops
- Support day-to-day program logistics and coordination
- Track participant goals, attendance, and progress
- Assist participants with job searches, apprenticeship applications, and career planning
- Develop outreach materials (flyers, newsletters, social media content)
- Support recruitment and engagement efforts
- Research apprenticeship opportunities and workforce trends
- Compile resources to support participant placement
- Develop a program improvement recommendation, resource guide, or placement strategy
- Present findings and recommendations at the end of the internship
