About The Position

Job Overview Smart Manufacturing and Automation (SMA) at Texas Instruments is seeking a Workflow Automation Engineer to join our Shop Floor Controls team. This role will focus on automating workflows across multiple semiconductor fabrication facilities to increase productivity. The ideal candidate will blend fab engineering expertise with advanced programming skills. This position offers the opportunity to shift the operational paradigm of our factories, using powerful AI and software tools to drive improvements in cost, cycle time, quality and capacity. The ideal candidate is both technically skilled and innovative, with a passion for process improvement and automation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree program
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing with understanding of fab operations
  • SQL expertise for complex database interactions and data manipulation
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Experience with git and modern software development practices

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI code generation platforms and can showcase leveraging co-development and agentic frameworks for accelerating work
  • Intimate knowledge of fab business processes and manufacturing database structures
  • Demonstrated experience successfully automating fab processes
  • Proven ability to innovate beyond standard job requirements, with examples of self-initiated improvements
  • Experience working across functional teams to implement enterprise-scale solutions
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and semiconductor equipment interfaces

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automated workflow solutions to increase efficiency across multiple semiconductor fabrication facilities
  • Coordinate with fab stakeholders to comprehend, document, and automate business practices for the SMA Shop Floor Controls team, primarily in lot disposition processes
  • Analyze current manufacturing and process engineering workflows to identify automation opportunities that maximize productivity
  • Develop robust SQL queries and Python tools for analysis of fab data
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship in workflow automation best practices
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of automated processes and systems
