About The Position

Workers Compensation Production Underwriter Job Summary Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workers Compensation Production Underwriter to join a team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of an organization by underwriting and pricing new and renewal Workers’ Compensation accounts. The role involves building strong relationships with independent agencies, analyzing risk characteristics, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure account profitability. Compensation Package Salary: $110,000 - $155,000 per year (depending on experience) + bonus opportunities Competitive benefits package, 401(k), paid time off, professional development opportunities, etc.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience underwriting Workers’ Compensation for an insurance carrier.
Proven experience in production underwriting with a focus on acquiring new business.
Familiarity with companies such as Accident Fund, The Hartford, CNA, Chesapeake, ICW, AmTrust, Travelers, and Liberty.

Nice To Haves

Progression toward professional certifications such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM is preferred.

Responsibilities

Underwrite and price new and renewal Workers’ Compensation accounts within assigned authority levels.
Build and maintain productive relationships with independent agencies across Maryland and Virginia.
Analyze risk characteristics, loss experience, and coverage needs to determine appropriate terms and conditions.
Collaborate closely with loss control and claims teams to ensure account profitability.
Contribute to regional marketing and business development efforts.
Mentor junior underwriters and share market expertise within the team.
Travel within the assigned territory (Maryland/Virginia).
Manage a book of business with a $3M - $4M annual new business goal.
