About The Position

Johnson Law Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Workers’ Compensation team in our Chicago office. This role supports attorneys throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases and is ideal for a paralegal who is either experienced in workers’ compensation or interested in developing specialization in this area of law. The position works closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or personal injury.
Familiarity with Illinois Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures.
Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team-based environment.
Professional demeanor and commitment to client service.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
Paralegal certificate.
Bilingual proficiency.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive paralegal support throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
Draft and prepare workers’ compensation documents including applications, petitions, responses, and settlement agreements for attorney review.
Organize, review, and summarize medical records relevant to workers’ compensation claims.
Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Apply Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission rules and procedures for filings, hearings, and case progression.
Conduct factual and legal research related to Illinois workers’ compensation claims.
Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness files.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records within the firm’s case management system.
