Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
  • 5–10 years of experience in workers’ compensation and insurance defense litigation, including DBA and/or Longshore cases.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of workers’ compensation matters, including state claims, Defense Base Act (DBA) cases, and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) claims.
  • Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in administrative hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Conduct depositions of claimants, medical experts, and fact witnesses.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Analyze medical records and employment documentation to assess claims and develop defense strategies.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on compliance with applicable workers’ compensation laws and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments affecting workers’ compensation and insurance defense across relevant jurisdiction
