Position Overview This role can be fully Remote or based at one of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA. in alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible) Vantage is seeking a detail oriented and analytical Workday Configuration Specialist to join our People & Culture team. In this role, you will support the functional configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday to meet evolving business needs across Core HCM and key modules (e.g., Recruiting, Talent & Performance, Absence, Compensation, Payroll, and Adaptive Planning as applicable). You will translate business requirements into scalable system designs, configure Workday business processes and security, build and enhance reporting, and partner with stakeholders to deliver a high-quality user experience. You will also support Workday’s biannual releases by evaluating new features, coordinating testing, and deploying configuration changes with appropriate documentation and controls.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Workday configuration experience (Core HCM required; additional modules such as Recruiting, Talent, Absence, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, or Adaptive Planning preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday business process configuration, security frameworks, reporting (including calculated fields), and supporting testing for Workday biannual releases.
  • Strong functional consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to gather requirements and translate them into Workday configuration solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot across business processes, security, and reporting and to design scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Workday Configuration, Reporting & Analytics: Configure and maintain Workday Core HCM and assigned modules, including business processes, condition rules, validation rules, calculated fields, and related setup. Develop and maintain standard and advanced reports, dashboards, and metrics; partner with stakeholders to define requirements and validate results. Analyze business needs and translate them into functional system designs, configuration changes, and process improvements that are scalable and maintainable. Support data governance and audit readiness by validating configuration impacts, documenting controls, and producing evidence through reporting and configuration documentation.
  • Business Process, Security & Functional Support: Design, configure, and maintain Workday business process frameworks (routing, approvals, notifications, steps, condition rules, validations) aligned to global process standards. Troubleshoot functional issues by performing root-cause analysis across configuration, business processes, and security; implement fixes and document outcomes. Maintain and enhance Workday security (roles, domains, business process security policies, and user-based security groups as applicable) in partnership with P&C and IT to ensure appropriate access and segregation of duties. Manage configuration changes through defined governance (intake, prioritization, testing, documentation, and deployment) to deliver timely, high-quality enhancements for stakeholders.
  • Release Management & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate new functionality delivered in Workday’s biannual releases; assess impacts, recommend adoption, and plan configuration changes. Coordinate and support testing (unit, end-to-end, and UAT) for configuration changes and releases; ensure issues are triaged and resolved prior to deployment. Identify opportunities to streamline processes through Workday configuration, automation, and standardization; provide recommendations grounded in Workday best practices.
  • Documentation & Stakeholder Enablement: Create and maintain configuration documentation, business process maps, and standard operating procedures to ensure supportable and auditable system changes. Partner with P&C stakeholders to capture requirements, review functional designs, and provide demos and guidance to drive successful adoption of new or updated processes. Serve as a functional Workday subject matter expert (SME) and escalation point for complex configuration and process questions; collaborate to drive timely resolution.
  • Project Support: Support and/or lead Workday configuration workstreams for projects including design, build, test, and deployment. Collaborate with key stakeholders to align functional configuration, integrations, and reporting outcomes. Contribute to change management by preparing release notes, communicating impacts, and supporting adoption activities for new configurations and process changes.
