About The Position

Groundswell is seeking an experienced Workday Benefits Architect to lead the design, configuration, and optimization of complex Workday Benefits solutions within large enterprise environments. This role is responsible for architecting, configuring, and optimizing complex Workday Benefits solutions while ensuring alignment with federal regulations, contractual obligations, and enterprise security standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep Workday Benefits expertise, strong consulting implementation experience, and the ability to operate effectively within highly regulated and security-sensitive environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Workday experience, with deep specialization in Workday Benefits.
  • Workday Benefits Certification (Required).
  • Consulting implementation experience including leading full lifecycle Workday deployments.
  • Large enterprise implementation experience supporting complex organizations.
  • Expertise in ACA configuration, Open Enrollment, eligibility rules, coverage targets, and vendor integrations.
  • Strong understanding of Workday business processes, EIBs, and reporting (Advanced/Composite).
  • Experience developing functional specifications and configuration documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. health & welfare and retirement plans.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex configuration and integration issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive and client-facing interactions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by contract.
  • Must be able to submit IRS Letter 6201 (Tax Compliance Report) as part of the background and security investigation process per contract requirements.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Additional Workday certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, configure, and optimize Workday Benefits plans including health, welfare, retirement, and voluntary programs across worker populations.
  • Design complex eligibility rules, coverage targets, life event processing, and payroll deduction configurations.
  • Align benefits administration with Federal and Judiciary-specific requirements.
  • Enable employee self-service for benefits enrollment and changes where appropriate.
  • Lead full lifecycle Workday implementations (discovery, design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support).
  • Configure and manage carrier/vendor integrations and ensure accurate ACA and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Lead Open Enrollment strategy, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Payroll, HCM, Absence, and Integration teams to ensure end-to-end solution alignment.
  • Provide post-production support and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Advise stakeholders on system design decisions and downstream impacts.
