The Student Life Administrative Assistant/Intern will help the staff in the Office of Student Life perform research, clerical office tasks, office organization, and the planning and coordination of college-wide meetings and events in support of student success objectives. Academic division leaders will rely on the Student Assistant to provide a student perspective in planning and communication work, as well as compiling information and other relevant materials in advance of events and meetings. Completing assigned tasks will entail using the internet to identify relevant research or other resources on institutional initiatives that are planned or active at the College. The Student Assistant will receive professional development in the areas of project management, office communication skills to executive level administrators as well as external audiences, event planning and coordination, and teamwork.

  • Provides clerical support for programs and activities for the Office of Student Life.
  • Assist with planning, logistics, and execution of events and activities for the Office of Student Life.
  • Assist with Drafting, editing, and publishing communication within the guidelines and supervision of the Office of student Life.
  • Providing feedback on activities, events, and sessions across the IVY Tech Indianapolis campus.
  • Provide support for events and activities, such as; supporting catering, logistics, and event organization as needed.
  • Assist in solving student issues and communicate and direct students to resources to resolve problems.
  • Research good models of mentor handbooks, assist with compilation, creation, and editing.
  • Format and proofread documents and reports prior to distribution
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
  • Maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours of enrollment in eligible courses.
  • Maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Power- Point).
  • Ability to effectively use the internet for research.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Discretion and ability to maintain FERPA rules.
  • Maintain office etiquette.
