About The Position

The Work Study Associate is a part-time, unpaid position that requires an onsite presence of a minimum of 15.0 hours per week. Reporting to the Education department, the Work Study Associate will assist the Studio Education Manager with daily class hosting and administrative duties for the program. Typically stationed in the Dance Place's lobby, the Work Study Associate will often be the initial representative of our patrons' encounters with the organization. Through enthusiastic and exciting engagement of our patrons, students, dancers, and staff, the Work Study Associate role will present a warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere while interacting with many people who call Dance Place home. Dance Place intends to select three work study participants for the Work Study program for this exciting opportunity.

Requirements

  • Be available for onsite, shift support between 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
  • Keen attention to detail with a focus on accurate data entry.
  • Strong organization and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products.
  • This position requires the ability to sit and stand for prolonged times; walk moderate distances; frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch; able to dry-mop areas; frequently communicate verbally with others; view a computer screen for prolonged periods; and repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers due to typing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's "first impression" steward by creating a positive, engaging, and lasting impression of the space.
  • Communicate regularly and warmly with youth and adult students and their families regarding classes, payments, Sawyer accounts, and Dance Place programming.
  • Maintain accurate records of class registration, student attendance, and payment processing using Sawyer software.
  • Manage youth and adult class scheduling to mitigate conflicts.
  • Provide in-person patron support.
  • Serve as the main class host during weekday and weekend classes.
  • Ensure the lobby and studio spaces are welcoming and clean at the onset of each shift (including dry-mopping studios prior to the start of classes).
