About The Position

This position will serve as the Career Bound Work Readiness Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Broome County under the leadership and supervision of the Career Bound Program Leader. The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will deliver curriculum based, dynamic, small group education and real-world experiences to teach and reinforce work readiness and customer service skill development and application. The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will teach Career Bound program associates in a classroom style environment. As part of the Career Bound team, the Work Readiness Educator assists with initial assessments with each individual, documents when benchmarks are achieved and works closely with the Career Bound and Workforce NY employment staff. Career Bound staff work in partnership with Workforce NY to ensure that participants are ready, appropriate and supported for success in the next step of their assessment plan. The Career Bound Work Readiness Educator will also market the program by representation on local youth development coalitions for the purpose of recruitment and program connections and planning. Coordination and communication with other Career Bound program staff, training providers and employers will be important, as participants move from one component of the program to another. This position will work closely with the Career Bound team to assist in providing a high-quality program that meets program participant needs and the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act’s (WIOA) required outcomes related to TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion)/basic skills, work readiness, training/certification, and employment. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00. Requirements

• Associate's Degree or equivalent education (TASC/High School Diploma and one year of transferrable program/functional experience).
• Experience relevant to the role of the position.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Utilize established program resources and materials in program work.
• Teach, existing Work Readiness programming, to include, but not limited to: TASC/basic skills, work readiness, training/certifications, and employment.
• Teach existing Work Readiness programming to meet Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) requirements and support successful preparation, entry and retention of young adults (ages 18-24) into the workforce.
• Teach already-established Work Readiness and Customer Service educational programing and activities in support of other youth development programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established plan of work.
• Under the oversight of the Program Leader, assist in the creation of lesson plans for program delivery purposes.
• Utilize a variety of proven educational methods in program delivery efforts which may include: direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, distance learning, workshops and forums to deliver programming
• Utilizing established materials, serve as subject matter resource in the area of Work Readiness to staff and participants, community organizations and the general public and provide standard responses.
• Work to foster acceptance of the Work Readiness Program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
• Assist in providing Work Readiness and Customer Service educational program efforts via mass media.
• Deliver educational programs as a part of multi-disciplinary team efforts when identified/appropriate.
• Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and 4-H Youth Development Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.
• Implement program evaluation as designed and make recommendations for improvements.
• Assist in interacting with program participants to obtain evaluation data of program offerings, to include: evaluating effectiveness of all programs offered.
• Assist Career Bound Program Leader in the interpretation of evaluation data and in the communication of evaluation results as assigned.
• Organize and coordinate activities related to Work Readiness and Customer Service efforts.
• Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued Youth Employment Program efforts.
• Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.
• Coordinate all planning and record keeping forms and procedures, as needed, in support of Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) requirements and program needs.
• Provide support (i.e. employment/job seeking, work readiness) such as aligning employment and work experience resources, and compiling information to assist with identification of career interests, training needs and employment goals, and for addressing critical needs that threaten their successful program completion, health, well-being, preparation for and success in the workforce.
• Collect evaluation data from program participants based on existing evaluation framework and guidelines.
• Coordinate effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts and Youth Employment resources, to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, multi-media efforts, community events, public presentations and tabling events.
• Provide information as requested to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories on program progress and accomplishments for funders, advisory committees, Board and others as necessary.
• As part of the Career Bound team, the Work Readiness Educator assists with initial assessments with each individual and documents when benchmarks are achieved.
• Attend meetings for local youth development coalitions for the purpose of recruitment and program connections and planning.
• This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.
• In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
• Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
• Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
• Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
• Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
