A Work Management Specialist (WMS) supports the work management process by performing critical activities such as developing schedules and plans that facilitate barrier free work execution, supporting daily/weekly operation/maintenance activities, providing the necessary supply of resources for the station(s), and facilitating process improvements to make work plans safer, more productive and cost competitive. They perform core work management activities including developing weekly schedules, creating job plans, determining proper GL accounting for work orders, performing inventory searches, setting minimum inventory levels, researching parts, completing new item requests and stock justifications, creating purchase requests, managing equipment repair processes, and completing single/sole source justification requests. The WMS also coordinates and communicates during the preparation and execution phase of work, monitors and tracks progress of activities, prepares reports, and ensures lessons learned are captured, evaluated and incorporated in support of continuous improvement. This role may also involve directing, coordinating, and reviewing activities of internal staff or contractors with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and work with greater independence over time. Typically, this role handles planning, scheduling, and contract resource coordination for one site.
