About The Position

We are seeking a senior-level Work Control Planner 4 to support critical operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This role is responsible for developing and executing detailed work packages that ensure safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance and operational activities within a highly regulated DOE environment. You will play a key role in planning preventative and corrective maintenance, supporting facility systems, and ensuring work is executed with precision in a secure nuclear setting. This is a senior-level, largely independent role for a seasoned work control professional who can hit the ground running with minimal oversight - and offers strong potential for contract extension or direct conversion to LANL.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of relevant experience, OR 20+ years of direct work control planning experience without a degree
  • Strong background in work control planning, maintenance, or construction environments
  • Experience developing technical procedures and work instructions
  • Familiarity with facility systems (HVAC, boilers, utilities, etc.)
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (DOE, nuclear, Navy, etc.)
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns, climb ladders, and operate a government vehicle
  • Must be available 100% onsite - split schedules not permitted

Nice To Haves

  • DOE/NNSA or nuclear facility experience
  • Experience with Maximo, Asset Suite, or similar CMMS tools
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Procedure/Policy Writing certification (PPA)
  • Background in facility operations, maintenance planning, or construction support
  • Facility systems expertise across mechanical, electrical, and utility systems
  • Precise, executable work package development in high-consequence environments
  • Strong coordination across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
  • Independent judgment and proactive issue resolution with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review detailed work packages including labor, materials, time estimates, and step-by-step instructions
  • Create and maintain procedures, safety requirements, and testing documentation for maintenance and operational work
  • Support planning activities across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems
  • Identify and resolve work constraints, ensuring packages are executable and compliant
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure successful execution
  • Drive work packages through full lifecycle from planning through execution to closure
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or Asset Suite
  • Perform outdoor field walkdowns and facility inspections, including ladder climbing as required
  • Operate government vehicles as needed for site activities
