About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Work Control Planner 2 to support operations and maintenance planning activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role supports the execution plan of PF-4 glovebox installation and facility operations and requires the development and coordination of detailed work packages in a highly regulated nuclear environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting DOE or nuclear facility operations, maintenance planning, or work control, with the ability to develop technical work instructions, estimate resources, and coordinate safe execution of complex work activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in work planning, maintenance planning, operations planning, or similar technical roles.
  • Experience developing technical work packages, procedures, and planning documentation.
  • Ability to work in high-hazard or highly regulated environments such as DOE, nuclear, defense, or industrial facilities.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear technical instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting DOE or NNSA facilities, particularly nuclear or radiological operations.
  • Familiarity with MWP, Primavera P6, or Asset Suite systems.
  • Experience supporting work control, maintenance planning, or facility operations in complex technical environments.
  • PPA certification (Policy Procedure Writer) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review detailed work packages, including labor, materials, time estimates, and safety requirements.
  • Write clear step-by-step work instructions and procedures for operations, maintenance, and facility modification activities.
  • Coordinate planning activities related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological systems within the facility.
  • Identify and resolve work constraints, ensuring work packages are complete and ready for execution.
  • Support operations in a high-hazard nuclear environment, ensuring compliance with LANL and DOE safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, safety professionals, and project managers to ensure work activities are properly planned and executed.
  • Ensure work control documentation supports safe, efficient, and compliant execution of facility activities.
