About The Position

The Realty Wood Cutter responsibilities include wood cutting for approved households who are primarily wood heat or wood heat with propane and have an approved housing lease or current residential lease. The Coronavirus Pandemic created a shortage in services for fire wood for ceremonial and home use. The Coronavirus Pandemic created the need for cemetery evaluation and identification of family cemeteries on the Omaha reservation. Lidar equipment will be used to assist in the cemetery project for the Omaha Tribe. Realty Statement of Work: Providing community members with pandemic related wood cutting needs for home wood burning in the cold months, for funerals and ceremonies. All wood cutting jobs are coordinated after completing the application for the winter heating program. Will assist with the LIDAR type scanning and interpretation of the results to identify unmarked graves, catalog current graves and mark areas not occupied by a grave. This will be done with all known cemeteries and areas believed to be cemeteries. All documentation of work requested and completed with be maintained in the department of Realty for future evaluation and use.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and proficiently with very little supervision and have motivation to perform the duties to completion.
Must be a self-starter with lots of initiative to get any job done who is ready to move on to the next job.
Must be able to attend required trainings and successfully complete all trainings then apply that information to the tasks required.
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions if need.
High School diploma or GED preferred
Driver's license required and applicant must be insurable.
Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

OSHA training, Safety training and the like preferred but not required.
LIDAR certified preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Verify all wood cutting requests are valid and ready for implementation.
Obtain a map of the area to be utilized for cutting from the Realty Director.
Pay attention to the type of wood to be used for which cutting job.
Monitor wood piles to ensure proper use and no abuse of services take place
Attend training on the proper operation of the Realty & THPO Dept. LIDAR type scanning equipment and learn how to interpret the data to appropriately identify underground infrastructure, graves, and other possible inconsistencies etc.
Scan all the Omaha Tribal cemetery/cemeteries in a methodical manner and interpret the data to identify all grave sites both marked and unmarked.
Be available to assist the Realty Director on gravesite locations on all Omaha lands, as well as any project sites.
Trade the percentage of job completed vs percentage of job remaining.
Travel to the cemetery, other tribal lands, and project sites as necessary to document any graves identified.
Assist with the creation of a map of all identified graves at the Omaha Tribal cemetery/cemeteries.
Assist with the creation of a map for tribal lands and project sites.
Additional duty assigned is to perform snow removal duties as necessary
Perform other duties as assigned.
