About The Position

Wonderfully Made is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Program Lead to guide, support, and oversee daily programming for adults with special needs. This role values hands-on engagement during program hours with meaningful administrative work on Fridays that strengthens communication, volunteer coordination, and program planning. The Program Lead embodies kindness, consistency, and leadership—ensuring that every participant and volunteer feels valued, safe, and included. This is not a clinical or personal-care role, but a leadership position centered on relationship-building, program coordination, and community engagement. What You’ll Do Encourage and accompany participants through daily program activities by offering gentle prompts, positive reinforcement, and friendly guidance as they engage in crafts, group discussions, games, devotionals, outings, or other planned activities. Stay alongside participants throughout each program day. Focusing on transitions, sit with them during group time, and provide reassurance or redirection as needed. Help them feel confident, included, and supported as they move through the daily rhythm of the program. Provide friendly support, patience, and positive presence for Wonder Makers in the Wonderfully Made Bakery. Collaborate kindly with volunteers by helping them feel welcomed, included, and confident in their role. Offer gentle guidance when needed, answer simple questions, and model the program’s tone of kindness and patience so volunteers feel supported, appreciated, and part of the team. Communicate effectively with Wonder Maker families.

Requirements

  • Warm, patient, steady personality with a heart for adults with special needs.
  • Experience in enrichment programs, disability ministry, community programs, or related settings.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Basic comfort with email, simple online tools, and photo uploads.
  • Ability to lead with kindness, model patience, and set a positive tone.
  • Reliability, consistency, and integrity in daily responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold a safe, predictable, respectful program culture.
  • Interact positively and consistently with volunteers, welcoming them warmly
  • Help volunteers understand their roles for each day and feel confident engaging with participants.
  • Provide gentle guidance, answer questions, and model the tone of kindness, patience, and teamwork expected in our program.
  • Ensure volunteers feel appreciated and included as an integral part of the WM community.
  • Communicate volunteer needs or scheduling updates to the Director.
  • Assist volunteers and program aid with activity setup and cleanup.
  • Lead morning meeting, lunch bunch, and 1 hour activity each week.
  • Support group routines, schedule flow, participant engagement, and daily structure.
  • Help maintain a peaceful, uplifting environment for all participants and volunteers.
  • Work well with the Bakery Manager, coordinating any shared space, resources, or cross program needs.
  • Collaborate smoothly with the Program Aide, sharing daily responsibilities, offering guidance, and supporting a positive team atmosphere.
  • Partner closely with the Wonderfully Made Director, providing updates, discussing participant needs, and aligning weekly plans with program goals.
  • Email families with meaningful weekly updates, highlights, reminders, or areas of celebration.
  • Share upcoming events, schedule changes, or needs in a clear, friendly tone.
  • Plan at least 1 hour of upcoming program activities for the following week, including: Research/new activity ideas for seasonal, creative, or enrichment themes.
  • Write thankyou notes to volunteers and donors who supported the program that week.
  • Confirm volunteer schedules for the following week.
  • Provide volunteers with simple expectations or info about upcoming activities.
  • Update care plans with notes from the week, including: Participation observations/ Preferences/Strengths or challenges/Social or communication updates
  • Maintain organized participant files and digital notes.
  • Update the photo-sharing site with weekly photos and captions.
  • Keep calendars, weekly schedules, and visual aids up to date.
  • Purchase supplies for weekly program activities as needed.
  • Keep all receipts organized and submit them according to WM procedures- ensuring documentation is uptodate, clear, and compliant.
