About The Position

The Mission of Washington State’s WISe (Wraparound Intensive Services) Workforce Collaborative is to advance best practices for youth and their families and to strengthen relationships among youth, families, and their community’s resources and support. Our team is a program of Catholic Charities Eastern Washington’s Behavioral Health Services. By serving family systems, our aim is to reduce trauma in children, decrease the rates of out-of-home placements, enhance existing strengths, solidify support systems, and remove barriers that traditionally prevent success in treatment. We walk alongside and support vulnerable families as they seek to change their stories. The WISe Assistant Director provides program support under the oversight and leadership of the WISe Director. This position will be responsible for supervising WISe Care Coordinators and Peers. The Assistant Director acts as a liaison between program and system partners and clinical programming, and provides after-hours/on-call crisis response. This position requires the ability to work under stressful conditions at times and the ability to use discretion and effective judgement to keep families and staff safe.

Requirements

  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Credential as Agency Affiliated Counselor or above must be obtained within 30 days.
  • Complete all required WISe training to qualify as Care Coordinator or Clinician within 90 days.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights, weekends)
  • Operate from a strengths-based perspective.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills and excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Working knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community and develop collaborative community relationships.
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Possess valid WA State driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Successfully pass background check applicable to position.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse populations and/or demonstrated life experience which qualitatively improves service delivery to Rising Strong families (i.e., diverse health perspectives, cultural and family style approaches).
  • Experience working with issues of homelessness, substance abuse/addiction, mental health and/or poverty preferred.
  • Knowledge of Spokane City and Spokane County community resources.
  • Highly recommended that the applicant continues to seek out further training and education while in this position.

Responsibilities

  • As the WISe Assistant Director, maintain awareness of current cases to assist WISe teams with best practices.
  • Act as Care Coordinator and Peer Support Supervisor — supervising onboarding and ongoing training, as well as completion of day-to-day WISe duties and providing oversite for WISe program compliance.
  • This includes ensuring best practice occurs concerning documentation and mental health records, HIPAA compliance, informed consent, treatment processes, and ethical obligations.
  • Act as lead for system partnership navigation, including DCYF, DSHS, CCEW programs, DOC, visitation agencies, law offices, medical facilities, etc.
  • Assist in completing family and behavioral health assessments with child and caregiver, including CANS (Child Adolescent Strengths and Needs).
  • Promote self-determination and personal responsibility for recovery and wellness, plans to empower the caregivers to advocate for themselves and their children.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to create a dynamic where each family member’s point of view is heard, experiences and preferences including cultural are recognized and represented in the treatment plan.
  • As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, assist in the development of treatment objectives and interventions for clients enrolled in WISe services.
  • As part of the clinical team, assess the family’s need for community resources to ensure safety and child-oriented treatment.
  • Participate in decision making for high-risk children, contributing to the development and implementation of an individualized treatment and/or crisis plan outlining current mental health and safety needs.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to ensure therapeutic interventions maintain a focus on strengths, needs and capacities of the child and family.
  • As part of a clinical team, assess and implement community resources according to family needs.
  • Maintain a reduced caseload, including care coordination, documentation, and interventions.
  • Under the supervision of the WISe Director, act as lead for implementation of prescribed behavioral strategies and treatment services to high-risk children, modeling and teaching social behavior, self-protection skills and awareness, and developmentally appropriate coping and social interaction skills.
  • Under the supervision of the WISe Director, provide skill building support that enhances a child and families ability to function effectively and safely in the community addressing therapeutic issues such as anger management, alternatives to aggression, frustration tolerance, and socialization.
  • Communicate with behavioral health staff as needed with concerns for child or family.
  • Work in collaboration with the Child Family Team and other system partners to support coordination of medical and behavioral health services for children and their caregiver(s).
  • Assist with crisis response rotation, abiding by all agency policies, to provide crisis intervention services to enrolled families.
  • Accurately complete documentation in appropriate timeframes and recorded in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Complete and communicate billing reports monthly for all WISe team members.
  • Assign intakes to the appropriate WISe team according to caseload numbers and need.
  • Assist WISe Director and Behavioral Health VP with program development and innovation.
  • Act as Director designee as needed for regional and agency Leadership meetings and events.
  • Assist WISe Director with annual staff performance evaluations.
  • Complete transport requests in a timely manner in accordance with the WISe policy/procedure.
  • Provide required reporting for alleged abuse or neglect, parental relapse with drugs or alcohol, safety plan not followed, new safety issues identified, severe behavioral incidents, running away, or situation requiring medical attention or hospitalization.
  • As a mandated reporter, follow all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings with other team members.
  • Actively participate in team and/or individual supervision as stated in agency policy.
  • Identify and address families’ barriers to completion of treatment objectives.
  • Facilitate learning opportunities for families by teaching developmentally appropriate, evidence-based classes.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Abide by CCEW WISe Policy and Procedures concerning transportation of clients.
  • Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and 42 CFR, Pt 2.
  • Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform as a team member to ensure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  • When subpoenaed or otherwise called upon, appear in court to testify regarding families’ involvement in the program in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
  • Perform related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.
