Wireless Standardization Engineer

About The Position

As a Wireless Standardization Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for representing Apple and driving Apple's strategic interest in related standard bodies. With the great opportunity to create innovations that benefit Apple's product lines and generate new IP, he/she will be working with a dynamic team in driving Apple's global standardization activities. As a Wireless Standardization Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of standards for wireless system radio interface L2/L3 protocols (RRC/SDAP/PDCP/RLC/MAC), network architecture and interface protocols, system architecture and functionalities, or protocols for NAS, VoLTE/VoWi-Fi/VoNR/SMS, location services etc. You will actively participate in 3GPP RAN2/RAN3/SA2/CT1 meetings representing Apple, and drive company strategic interests in those organizations. You will also support various internal teams to bring new ideas and define new features.

Requirements

Technical/Engineering PhD or equivalent industry experience

1+ years of wireless systems experience
Excellent communication and collaborative skills
Excellent understanding of optimization and performance issues across OS software layers
Obsessively passionate and inquisitive, and seek to tackle everyday problems in innovative ways

Responsibilities

Good understanding of wireless technologies
Track record of research, standards or simulation experience of wireless technologies and its development, such as 4G/5G, AI/ML, Mobility, etc.
Languages such as Python, MATLAB, C++
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, obsessively passionate and seek to solve everyday problems in innovative ways

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $210,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
