Position Summary The Wire EDM Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of Wire EDM machines, to produce tooling components using existing CNC programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or receipt of equivalent degree (GED).
  • Completion of formal machine shop training or related.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating Wire EDM machines.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. or protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more Wire EDM machines to shape metal parts to specifications in tooling prints, drawings, and verbal instruction.
  • Obtain from verbal instruction, tooling designs, machine setting charts, information such as, standard fixtures to be used, machine settings, number of parts to be machined, program to be used.
  • CNC programs are to be checked for compliance to the tool design print.
  • Mounts specified components to standard fixture on machines.
  • Position and secure parts on machines fixture table.
  • Moves controls to align parts, loads job specific program into machine, adjusts machine settings
  • Observe to verify machine settings, part orientation proper program through dry run.
  • Inspect work visually and with measuring instruments.
  • Check and verify necessary files to produce components to size.
  • Routine maintenance must be carried out at regular intervals and records updated constantly.
  • Perform applicable machine repair.
  • Maintain Wire EDM spare component inventory.
  • Ensure documentation and records are maintained in the ERP system.
  • Suggest improvements in all areas including quality, time savings, and costs.
