About The Position

Forepaugh's Restaurant is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Wine Director to lead and elevate our beverage program. This role oversees wine, spirits, cocktails, and service standards while inspiring and developing a high-performing beverage team.

Requirements

  • Able to follow oral and written directions
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able work in standing position for long periods of time
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Follows food safety requirements and guidelines
  • Self-starter that can work independently
  • Must pass criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • In-depth knowledge of Wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about different types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes.
  • Promote wine sales through staff and customer education, and by ordering wines, maintaining the wine stock, creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions, Suggesting food and wine pairings to servers and customers.
  • Conduct wine tastings for staff and customers.
  • Maintain assigned work station in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
  • Oversee private event beverage planning and excecution.
  • Recruit, train, schedule and manage bartenters and sommeliers.
  • Curate wine and beverage selections, pricing, inventory and pricing.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the leadership team
