About The Position

Ajax Turner Company is seeking a Wine and Spirits Sales Representative to add to its On Premise team in the Chattanooga area. Ajax Turner Company is a family owned and operated business and has been in operation for 60+ years. The Company distributes a variety of products including Beer, Non-Alcohol, Wines, and Spirits. BASE SALARY + COMMISSION Principal Duties and Responsibilities Preparing for the workday and work week by organizing appointments, pulling the correct samples, and setting objectives for designated accounts ahead of time Increasing overall wine and spirits distribution by looking for wine BTB/BTG, spirits, cocktail menu placement opportunities Calling on assigned accounts to increase sales volume, merchandise, monitor prices, and manage shelf space. Managing daily retail inventory levels using sales history, competitive activity, promotional activities, etc.... Preparing appointments and objectives for supplier ride withs Sampling customers on products (wine, spirits, and beer) Merchandising with paper P.O.S. and booking permanent P.O.S. Working with service reps, merchandising team, management, and our customers to maximize sales. Introducing and selling-in new brands and packages to assigned retailers (wine, spirits, and beer) Building business relationships with a weekly call frequency on every account following the ATCO selling process Maintaining published product freshness standards in assigned retail accounts by monitoring and rotating stock. Cultivating a superior knowledge of ATCO's portfolio as well as selling techniques (wine, spirits, and beer) Having all orders transmitted during designated time. Creating strong relationships with our customers by providing dependable, friendly, and appreciative service Working with the accounting department to resolve any AR, invoicing, or payment issues. Operating company vehicles in a safe manner that is within ATCO safe driving benchmarks. Attending wine and spirits product and sales training meetings Completing monthly safety classes and all assigned training classes Fulfilling pre-established programs and objectives set by management and chain account teams. Complying with all government and ATCO job processes, work rules, policies, and instructions as they apply to your position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with Class “F” endorsement required.
  • Excellent driving record with less than 8 points on record in the last 3 years
  • At least 2-3 years of retail or distribution experience preferred.
  • Strong sales aptitude.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain industry specific certifications (WSET, Sommelier)
  • Must have an injury and accident-free mentality.
  • Capable of meeting the listed physical requirements, see physical requirements schedule above.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack, hand truck, and similar types of equipment effectively and safely.
  • Friendly, courteous, works well with others, and maintains a professional appearance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and other sales related software tools.
  • Self-motivated with an attentiveness to details and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, occasional weekend work is expected.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal development and training.
  • Has a strong commitment to customer service with the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
