Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have Top Secret Clearance Non-remote (relocation incentive available) The Windows System Administrator will support the Air National Guard’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft Squadron Operations Center as part of a diverse team responsible for managing a globally distributed information system. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Must have Top Secret clearance.
  • One (1+) year of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.
  • IAT Level II Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security Training, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC) equivalent or higher.
  • Experience administering Windows systems and VMware environments, including server configuration, account management, and maintaining security compliance (STIGs, patches, firmware).
  • Strong technical support expertise (Tier I & II) with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, assist users, and maintain system documentation and testing procedures.
  • Experience in managing and securing enterprise IT infrastructure, including email/database servers, backup and recovery processes, and implementation of policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Computing Environment certification in either Windows Server, ACAS, HBSS, or similar technology within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in VMWare NSX or CISCO VXLAN.

Nice To Haves

  • AA/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with a comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts.
  • IAT Level III Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, etc.).
  • Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) servers experience.
  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • Problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems.
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Experience providing quality service and support for mission-critical systems and VIP end users.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier I & II support for a globally distributed information system, including user assistance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Manage the functionality, efficiency, and security of Windows‑based systems and servers across multiple operating environments.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain servers within a VMware virtualized infrastructure.
  • Create and manage administrator and service accounts, ensuring proper access controls and security compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and change records.
  • Evaluate user needs and vendor products, and make recommendations for hardware and software procurement.
  • Coordinate installation, upgrades, and backup/recovery processes while ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Develop and enforce policies, standards, and best practices related to computing resource allocation and system usage.
  • Plan, execute, and document system testing strategies to validate performance, security, and functionality.
  • Train and advise end‑users on system features, capabilities, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and less-experienced staff.
  • Support local on‑call/call‑back requirements and provide hands‑on technical assistance as needed.
  • Apply and maintain STIGs, patches, and firmware updates to ensure cybersecurity compliance.
  • Manage and maintain email and database servers to ensure reliable availability and performance.
