About The Position

The Wildlife Service Technician plays a critical role in managing and mitigating human-wildlife conflicts to promote coexistence and protect both public safety and wildlife populations. This position involves conducting fieldwork to monitor wildlife activity, assess habitats, and implement humane control measures in accordance with federal and state regulations. The technician will collaborate with landowners, government agencies, and conservation organizations to develop and execute effective wildlife management plans. Through data collection and reporting, the technician contributes to ongoing research and policy development aimed at sustainable wildlife management. Ultimately, this role ensures the balance between ecological preservation and community interests is maintained through expert intervention and education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience or training in wildlife management, animal control, or a related field.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with the public and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in wildlife biology, environmental science, or related discipline.
  • Certification in wildlife handling or pest control.
  • Experience with GPS and data collection technology.
  • Knowledge of local wildlife species and their behaviors.
  • First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections to identify wildlife presence, damage, and potential risks to property or public safety.
  • Implement humane wildlife control techniques such as trapping, exclusion, and habitat modification.
  • Maintain detailed records of wildlife activity, control measures applied, and outcomes for reporting and analysis.
  • Educate the public and stakeholders on wildlife behavior, prevention strategies, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies and other professionals to ensure compliance with wildlife protection laws and regulations.
