About The Position

Kitsap Community Resources is seeking a passionate and community‑focused WIC Supervisor to help strengthen the health and well‑being of women, infants, and young children across Kitsap County. This role leads a dedicated team that provides nutrition support, guidance, and family‑centered services that make a real difference in early childhood health. This position supervises WIC staff at our Silverdale location. This position is responsible for staff and class schedules, formulating evaluation input, performing nutritional evaluation and counseling for clients in a community health setting. Must be able to communicate with a diverse population, be patient and creative in finding nutritional solutions to nutrition and health challenges.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Associates degree in nutrition or related field
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date)
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License (to operate company vehicles and/or utilize other vehicles for company business)
  • Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile. (to operate company vehicles and/or utilize other vehicles for company business)
  • Certifications: obtain WA state WIC certifier status via on the job training
  • Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting, twisting, and bending
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Good judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effectively communicate appropriate advice, guidance, information and training
  • Cognitive ability to recognize and address safety concerns
  • Cognitive ability to discern accuracy and apply to work as necessary
  • Must be able to exhibit regular attendance
  • Conducts business and performs responsibilities with honesty, empathy, and integrity in alignment with KCR Code of Ethics
  • Demonstration of service delivery that aligns with KCR Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: 2 years of experience counseling clients in nutrition
  • Must demonstrate recognition and compassion for low-income peoples.
  • Must be aware and sensitive to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good public relations, communication and educational skills needed.
  • Requires knowledge of local resources which benefit the economically disadvantaged.

Responsibilities

  • Report to and accept assignments from WIC Manager.
  • Follow WIC regulations pertaining to WIC Program procedures, policies and practices and keep up to date with revisions/changes throughout the program year.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of anthropometric measurements, health assessment, determining nutritional risk and eligibility, and prescribing supplemental food packages based on State WIC guidelines.
  • Responsible for WIC staff scheduling and ensures schedule compliance. Verifies and submits site staff timesheets. Submits draft staff evaluations to WIC Manager.
  • Responsible for the smooth operation of assigned site including supply & training materials ordering, and maintaining various inventories.
  • Provides monthly status reports to WIC Manager.
  • Plan and provide nutrition education for the WIC client, document nutrition services, and literature provided in client’s file within the established timeframes.
  • Participate in in-services, health fairs, community meetings and job-related education programs
  • Assist in the development and office organization of nutrition education displays, posters, literature and other creative projects.
  • Attend and participate in unit, division, and agency staff meetings as required.
  • Meet with WIC Manager as needed.
  • Ensures positive and appropriate communication between the assigned site and the WIC Manager.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned by the WIC Manager
  • Maybe asked to perform WIC clerk and Certifier duties as needed.
