About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The WIC clerk position is responsible in overseeing the functions at the front desk, including but not limited to answering the phone, determining eligibility, processing appointments, issuing WIC benefits, and scheduling appointments according to program policies, procedures, and guidelines. POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Obtain, document, and update demographic information including name, address, telephone numbers, date of birth, income, racial and ethnic information, etc. Determine eligibility to enroll in the WIC program and complete intake for various appointment types. Perform receptionist duties by politely greeting and directing visitors, answering and directing calls, providing program information to interested parties, and scheduling appointments according to program guidelines. Conduct appointment reminder calls and follow-up on clients who failed to keep scheduled appointments. Establish, update, and maintain accurate participant records and program information. Monitor, maintain, and assure security of an adequate supply of eWIC cards and program materials. Maintain log of clinic activities (i.e., number of visits, failed appointments) and assist in the preparation of reports. Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences to maintain knowledge of current policy and job-skills. Assists co-workers with problem solving and completing other daily duties. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in operating computers desirable
  • English (secondary language of Karen, Nepali, Spanish or other a plus)
  • 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday and rotating the 3rd Saturday of every month
