About The Position
Introduction Internal Only : This position is limited to current Maryland Department of Health employees only. GRADE ASTD10 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Queen Anne's County Department of Health Centreville, MD 21617 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to protect and promote the health of families in the community by providing WIC services to all eligible participants. This position will interview WIC applicants and participants to determine WIC program eligibility and will provide benefits to clients in compliance with federal regulations, state policies and local agency procedures. This position will also teach basic nutrition and breastfeeding concepts to WIC participants. This position will provide program information to WIC participants.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- One year of experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services, or nutrition education.
- Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
