About The Position

We are seeking a WIC Service Associate. The purpose of the WIC Service Associate position is to perform eligibility determination, health and nutrition screening, and referral services to Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program applicants. This position will provide basic nutrition counseling to WIC clients and issue WIC benefits to eligible participants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of related WIC experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Experienced with Language Line for effective communication.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Committed to providing exceptional participant-centered customer service with basic nutrition knowledge.
  • Willing to travel and adapt to additional duties as assigned.
  • Experience using computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Calendar.
  • Experience in planning and organizing the Outreach Plan.
  • Fluent in the Spanish language
  • Three years of related WIC experience, including prior experience working effectively with low-income, multi-cultural population(s) and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and conduct precertification interviews with prospective participants.
  • Perform initial certifications and recertifications accurately.
  • Collect and evaluate anthropometric and hematological data.
  • Gather documents and enter information into the WOW system, including proof of residence, identity, income, and, if applicable, proof of pregnancy.
  • Provides eWIC cards for food delivery to certified participants.
  • Provide effective primary and secondary nutrition education tailored to individual needs.
  • Follow federal and state guidelines while addressing applicants' dietary and health preferences.
  • Assess client needs and refer them to relevant health, food assistance, and social services programs.
  • Use a personal computer for managing emails, calendars, and office software.
  • Work closely with other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
