JOB SUMMARY Performs a wide variety of duties including serving clients, customers, and staff on the telephone and/or in person. Provides administrative and technical support. May determine eligibility for services to clients as mandated by state and federal regulations. Assess client needs and provide appropriate education and referrals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 -3 years of experience
  • OR Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
  • This position requires bilingual Spanish proficiency
  • Ability to learn new WIC platform
  • Experience with Google Applications including Gmail and Drive.

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility for the WIC program by reviewing written documentation, interviewing the client, and comparing to state and federal guidelines.
  • Make appointments, and determine frequency of follow-up based on risks.
  • Inform recipients/applicants of rules, regulations, their rights, and responsibilities for eligibility in the federal nutrition assistance program.
  • Conduct health assessments at various intervals including anthropometric measurements (height/length, weight), accurately graph information, and determine values.
  • Administer and analyze biochemical (blood) tests.
  • Analyze assessments and tests and determine risk factors.
  • Using the principles of motivational interviewing provide individual education plans; set behavior goals; make appropriate referrals; follow up and document progress; re-evaluate and establish new goals as necessary.
  • Provide appropriate education based on their needs which may include breast-feeding education, counseling, and support.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties as required including but not limited to, making appointments, answering the telephone, and ordering office supplies.
  • Attends all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Completion of WIC Certification Program within first 12 months of employment with test scores of 90% or higher in each module.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in emergency planning and response activities.
  • Participates in agency-wide activities that may include strategic planning, quality improvement, and/or staff development, as appropriate.
  • Completes necessary training through FEMA, including Incident Command Structure (ICS) courses.
  • When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by County leadership, employees may be required to work as part of a National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
