WIC Clerk/PC will be a candidate with breastfeeding experience responsible for providing women with basic breastfeeding information, benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers and handling common breastfeeding issues. WIC peer counselors are women who have breastfeed their own children exclusively for at least six months and can use that experience to help other women. If you qualify, extra training will be provided to help you assist mothers in their breastfeeding needs. Conduct prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding support classes via group or individual contacts, telephone, home visits, and/or hospital visits. Make routine periodic contacts with all clients assigned to their caseload. This position will also be responsible for determining participants program eligibility, health screenings (blood work and anthropometrics); preparing participant charts, answer phone calls, schedule appointments, filing. Travel within Gateway CAP service area is required. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/program manager.
