Reuters is looking for an aggressive reporter with demonstrated investigative chops and the ability to develop high-level sourcing to lead our efforts to scrutinize the actions and ethical entanglements of the White House and its key actors. We are looking for someone who is hungry to get below the surface of official decision-making and to identify who is influencing and benefitting – financially or otherwise – from government actions and access. A pre-existing source network in Washington is a major plus, as is the ability to write clearly and compellingly on complex topics. A high metabolism and collaborative spirit are essential, as this reporter would work closely with the Reuters White House team, members of the Washington bureau generally and with members of our financial and companies coverage teams. About the Role As White House Accountability Reporter, you will: Deliver short- and medium-term investigative scoops on the White House, its key actions and actors Work closely and collaboratively with the Reuters White House team and others who cover the federal government and national politics, plus finance and companies. Cultivate deep, well-placed sourcing within the Trump administration and beyond to reveal the hidden machinations of federal decision-making. About You You’re a fit for the role of White House Accountability Reporter if you have: A strong track record of developing reliable sources in competitive environments – or better yet, come with an existing rolodex of administration sources. A hunger to deliver scoops and drive the news agenda. The capacity to report thoroughly for high-impact accountability and enterprise stories. An eagerness to work within and across teams. Understanding and appreciation of storytelling mediums beyond text.
