About The Position

The Wellness Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing the mission of the Center for Health & Wellness (Health Services, Counseling Center and Learning for Life) by leading campus-wide prevention and educational programming. This position is responsible for developing, and implementing initiatives that promote emotional wellness, reduce distress and support holistic student health and wellness. The coordinator oversees campus wide initiatives, tracks and responds to requests for outreach from campus and local community partners. The coordinator builds collaborative relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and local community partners to deliver high-impact educational programs, outreach efforts, and awareness campaigns. They will support the Center for Health & Wellness mission of providing confidential and holistic care for all RIC students and community.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in, psychology, social work, public health or related field.
  • Experience working in a college/university counseling service or comparable outpatient facility.
  • Strong public speaking and networking skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community agencies and resources in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implement and oversee programming initiatives to enhance the Center for Health & Wellness mission to reduce distress, promote emotional wellness, enhance life satisfaction, and improve overall well-being.
  • Collaborate with Directors under the Center for Health and Wellness including the Director of Counseling, Director of Student Health Services and the Director for Learning 4 Life related to programming and educational initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and local community partners to enhance programming efforts.
  • Create, design, and implement wellness programming, including but not limited to group programs, presentations, and single-session workshops on topics relevant to current student concerns. Areas of focus to include but are not limited to, suicide prevention, substance use support services, and other mental health and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain timely and appropriate records for event attendance and content.
  • Participate in the Counseling Center's liaison system with residence life staff; participate in training and consultation with faculty, professional and student staff to develop their skills in recognizing, responding to, and referring students in psychological distress.
  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and/or designated senior staff.
  • Represent the Center for Health & Wellness at events, including some evening and weekend hours.
  • Assist with administrative functions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Counseling Center.
