Welding Shop Foreman – Can You Teach Old Dogs New Tricks? Pro-Type Industries is looking for Welding Shop Foreman to lead our welding and fabrication team in a precision-driven aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality welds, compliance with aerospace welding specifications, and efficient daily operations in the welding department. Requirements

  • Technical or vocational training in welding/fabrication
  • Experience in an AS9100 or NADCAP certified facility
  • Prior work with aluminum, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, at a minimum.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of welding experience, with 5 or those years in a supervisory or foreman role
  • Certification in one or more of the following: AWS D17.1, D1.1, D1.2, D1.6
  • Proficient in GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), Spot Welding and other welding processes used in aerospace fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and lead a team of welders in the production of aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Interpret and enforce welding standards including AWS D17.1 (Aerospace), D1.1 (Structural Steel), D1.2 (Aluminum), and D1.6 (Stainless Steel.
  • Ensure all welds meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements, including customer-specific quality standards.
  • Conduct weld inspections and quality checks; ensure welding procedures (WPS/PQR) are followed.
  • Provide hands-on training, mentorship, and skill development to welding personnel.
  • Manage shop scheduling, prioritize work orders, and allocate labor to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate production records, inspection reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Project Management teams on job planning and execution.
  • Support audits and compliance checks, including AS9100 requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
