About The Position

The Welding Engineer ensures all welded assemblies meet customer specifications by optimizing welding processes, resolving quality concerns, maintaining weld documentation, and driving continuous improvement across cradle production lines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Weld Engineering preferred , or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of weld engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes: GMAW, FCAW, RSW , aluminum welding, and weld controls (Bosch, Lincoln i400, Fronius).
  • Ability to interpret GD&T, customer specifications, and weld documentation.
  • Experience with costing, quoting, and recommending design/process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of robotics and programming.
  • Experience working with stamped and welded assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling.
  • Proficiency with CAD viewers, weld controller software, BOS systems, and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all welding processes meet customer specifications, prints, and Target agreements.
  • Lead resolution of weld-related quality issues and ensure lessons learned are shared across similar processes.
  • Evaluate weld documentation, weld maps, and testing data to maintain compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide technical direction on weld equipment, process development, and equipment selection to optimize throughput and quality.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and weld technicians to support troubleshooting and process improvements.
  • Stay current with welding technology advancements and implement beneficial improvements.
  • Support quoting activities for new and existing business by providing weld-related insights and costing.
  • Communicate weld-related findings professionally, including presentations to customers.
