About The Position

Welding and assembly technician will begin their normal working week Friday - Sunday 5:30pm - 6:00am. Once clocked in, they put on designated safety gear and proceed to their work area. After completing these tasks, the mechanic will look over their job assignments for the day, ensuring materials, tools and traceability requirements have all been reviewed and are available before starting work. The daily tasks may vary considerably from one day to another. They may include things like: Perform a wide variety of turbine assembly operations including set up, alignment, assembly, blading, seal removal and installation, fit, fabricate, weld and adjust turbine components. Operate material handling equipment (crane, fork truck, platforms, JLG, etc.) Load/unload components from machines and assist crane operations. Reading and interpreting blueprints. Operating a computer to retrieve, record and read product data and instructions. Calculating dimensions and tolerances with specialized precision measuring tools. Setting up, operating, and disassembling manual machines such as Bridgeport, Lathe, grinding machine etc. Measuring and testing finished products to verify their quality. Cleaning, deburring finished work products. Operating cranes to move product & perform critical lifts

Requirements

  • Like working with your hands and paying great attention to detail and be an analytical person who is mechanically minded with strong math and communication skills.
  • Possess strong attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously and independently, excel in following directions, and have a grasp of computers.
  • Must pass Welding test if not currently certified (6G welding to PQ-50202-38, PQ-50210-38 and PQ-50101-39) within progression period.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, read/interpret drawings, specifications, charts and tables.
  • Capable of using various measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
  • Equivalent of 1-3 years of mechanical trade experience.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
