We're looking for a skilled welder with TIG and MIG experience, especially on aluminum, to join a growing fabrication team in Decatur as a temp-to-hire employee. Once the temp-to-hire period of 520 hours worked has been completed, the company is looking to fill this position permanently. If offered a permanent position with the company, pay will be re-evaluated for an increase, and comprehensive benefits will be offered. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their craft, understands the importance of precision, and thrives in a production environment where quality and safety come first. In this role, you'll be responsible for welding various materials, focusing strongly on aluminum. You'll read and interpret technical drawings, follow production routers, and use the appropriate welding techniques and filler materials for each job. Welds must meet customer specifications, and you'll be expected to examine your work for bead size, fusion depth, and overall finish. You'll be hands-on with grinders, sanders, and measuring tools, and you'll need to understand how to set up fixturing and adjust parameters like amps and volts for the job at hand. Much of the day is spent on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working around fabrication equipment. A forklift moves parts in and out of the weld area. You'll be part of a team that values accuracy, safety, and efficiency. Keeping your work area clean, completing documentation, and following company procedures will be essential. We need someone who can balance independence with teamwork and communicates clearly in writing and in person.
