About The Position

The Welder Technician will set up and perform metal joining and cutting operations on ferrous and nonferrous metals, including steel, aluminum, and cast metals, with or without fixtures, using a variety of welding equipment. Promote a safe, engaged, and inclusive work environment by adhering to all safety policies, proper use of personal protective equipment, correct operation of equipment, and performing 5S duties Maintain expected job progress within the assigned area and communicate issues or concerns appropriately Work from manufacturing information, sketches, drawings, verbal or written instructions, or prototypes Weld parts using proper machine settings, rod or wire, and gas selections, and fabricate fixtures to support the welding process Manually position components in correct welding sequence for complex, non‑repetitive structural assemblies, with or without fixtures Ensure quality by measuring finished parts using tape measures and/or calipers, performing visual inspections, identifying nonconforming parts, and troubleshooting errors Follow detailed instructions to ensure precision and maintain structural integrity of welds Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot welding equipment issues, and demonstrate strong attention to detail throughout the welding process

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Welding certification in basic welding (e.g., Piedmont Technical College Basic Welding Certificate)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous sheet metal fabrication experience, including use of standard punch and bend tooling and processes
  • Experience reading blueprints, manufacturing diagrams, drawings, and/or operating instructions
  • Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers
  • Experience with ERP systems, including DMM and AS‑400
  • MIG welding certification (e.g., Piedmont Technical College Basic Welding Certificate)
