Job Summary As a Welder II this position is responsible for performing intermediate welding tasks with greater independence, focusing on the fabrication and repair of aluminum components. This position requires experience with MIG and TIG welding processes, along with the ability to interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately. The Welder II works under minimal supervision to meet quality and production standards and may assist in training entry-level welders.

Requirements

  • Great understanding of welding equipment, tools, and safety practices
  • Understands design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
  • Takes pride in work.
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Flexibility to work in other departments.
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of a welding program or certification is a plus.
  • 2+ years of welding experience with MIG or TIG welding, specifically on aluminum
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.

Responsibilities

  • Is able to perform all essential job functions as a Welder I.
  • Performs intermediate MIG and TIG welding on aluminum components, meeting production specifications and quality standards.
  • Can use various items and equipment using cutting, saws, grinders, hand tools with minimal guidance.
  • Inspect completed welds for strength, accuracy, and appearance, identifying and correcting defects when necessary.
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment to appropriate settings for different tasks.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and assist in maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Provides guidance to Welder I and assist in their training and development
  • Able to work on more than one weld team.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Follow company safety protocols and maintain equipment in good working order
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
