About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Welder Helper to support fabrication, repair, and maintenance services across our various industrial uranium mining and processing operations. The Welder Helper assists skilled welders with material preparation, equipment setup, and fabrication tasks in a heavy industrial environment. The Welder Helper plays a key role in maintaining safe work practices, supporting quality workmanship, and contributing to efficient plant and wellfield operations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in industrial welding and mechanical systems.
Requirements
- Prior industrial or construction experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of MIG, TIG, and FCAW welding processes
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and technical drawings
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
- Mechanical aptitude related to fabrication and assembly
- Basic math skills for measurements and layout calculations
- Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to obtain certification)
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Assist welders with setup, positioning, and material handling for MIG, TIG, and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) projects
- Prepare materials by cleaning, grinding, beveling, and staging components for welding
- Organize and maintain hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support fabrication tasks
- Measure components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Assist with pipe fitting, structural alignment, and assembly
- Support rigging operations and material handling; operate forklifts if qualified
- Assist with plasma cutting, machining, grinding, and other fabrication processes as directed
- Maintain clean and safe work areas in compliance with hot work and safety procedures
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space safety requirements
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition
- Support adherence to project timelines while maintaining quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
