About The Position

The Welder/Fitter is responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding structural and piping components to support industrial projects. This role reads and interprets drawings, lays out and fits materials to specification, and performs high-quality welds in a safe, efficient manner to keep projects on schedule and to standard.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a welder/fitter in an industrial, fabrication, or construction environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with common welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.) and basic fitting practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Strong layout and measuring skills (tape measure, levels, squares, etc.).
  • Ability to work in industrial environments (standing for extended periods, lifting up to [X] lbs, working at heights, in varying temperatures).
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Current welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) a plus; ability to pass a weld test required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders to determine layout and welding requirements.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies using fixtures, clamps, and measuring tools.
  • Perform welding (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW as applicable) on carbon steel, stainless, and/or other alloys according to project specifications.
  • Fit and assemble structural and piping components, ensuring proper alignment, root gaps, and weld prep.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, size, and penetration; make necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Use cutting torches, grinders, and other tools to prep material, bevel edges, and finish welds.
  • Maintain tools, welding machines, and equipment in safe working condition; report issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements, including hot work and confined space rules when applicable.
  • Assist with material handling, shop/field housekeeping, and other tasks as needed to support the crew and project.
