Weld Engineer
About The Position
Axis Automation is looking for career-oriented Weld Engineers to join a dynamic, tight-knit team creating custom factory automation equipment. Our team has decades of automation experience, spanning hundreds of projects and thousands of automation configurations. Position Description: Weld Engineers work with peer groups, Controls Engineers, Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Builders, Technicians and other personnel to design, implement and document welding systems for various types of automation and robotic equipment. You will be personally involved with specifying weld equipment, weld system design, simulation, robotic and weld equipment programming, machine debug and validation / buyoff as well as leading a team of engineers to do the same. Travel to customer sites for installation, startup, and support of equipment represents 10-20% of time. Position Opportunity: Weld Engineer: Minimum 3 years of experience in Weld Engineering and Automation, with recognized technical expertise, ability to handle larger projects, interface with customers, support other team members, and be a self-starter.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in welding engineering strongly preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in automation and weld engineering focused role
- Willing to travel approximately 10%-20%
- Welding specification experience with Robot pendant and simulation programming
- Design experience with welding systems
Nice To Haves
- Preferred software experience: Lincoln, Fronius, WTC, Bosch, RSLogix5000/500, Robot Studio, Roboguide, Motosim, and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Design, Implement, and Document welding and joining systems for various types of welding automated equipment.
- Monitor Project timelines and consistently drive for project deadlines.
- Interpret customer specifications and communicate effectively to produce machinery that meets both customer and Axis Automation specifications.
- Follow customer dictated specifications, design and programming methodology.
- Ensure equipment meets industry safety guidelines.
- Simulation presentations with internal team, customers and suppliers.
- Develop and program parameters, schedules, and specifications to provide welds that meet or exceed customer satisfaction demands.
- Provide real-time debug and runoff support for automated machinery at Axis Automation as well as customer facilities.
- Real-time communication with company management and project teams on developments.
- Professional management of customer relationships and requests.
- Communicate with vendors to specify and source major purchased components.
- Ability to work within a team and act upon constructive feedback.
- Create and improve upon standards and procedures for the Welding department.
- Support the build and electrical teams.
- Take project assignment and direction from Controls Engineering Manager and Project Leads.
