About The Position

The Welcome Center Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a state-operated Welcome Center, ensuring visitors receive accurate and engaging information about Arkansas’s attractions, heritage, and tourism opportunities. This position provides leadership to staff, maintains a welcoming environment, manages administrative functions, and supports tourism initiatives.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency's operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts.

  • Ability to analyze visitor trends and provide recommendations for improving services.
  • Familiarity with Arkansas’s tourism industry, history, cultural heritage, and local attractions.
  • At least two years of experience in hospitality management, tourism, business administration, communications, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in daily Welcome Center operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere.
  • Provide visitors with up-to-date information about Arkansas’s parks, heritage sites, tourism destinations, and local attractions.
  • Answer visitor questions with courtesy, professionalism, and enthusiasm, offering recommendations and guidance.
  • Ensure the proper display and distribution of promotional materials, brochures, and digital resources.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling Welcome Center staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor and ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Track and maintain inventory levels of brochures, maps, and promotional materials.
  • Report and coordinate necessary maintenance and repairs with appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with state policies, workplace safety regulations, and customer service standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local tourism offices, chambers of commerce, businesses, and attractions.
  • Support outreach initiatives by representing the Welcome Center at tourism events and conferences.
  • Assist in developing visitor engagement activities and special events that promote Arkansas tourism.
  • Maintain accurate records of visitor statistics, inquiries, and feedback.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to visitor trends, facility operations, and staff performance.
  • Assist with budget tracking for operational expenses, including supply purchases and maintenance costs.
