Welcome Center- Front Desk Staff
About The Position
The Ocean Community YMCA now has part-time opportunities at the Welcome Center at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch. Available hours include 5am-9am and 5pm-9pm daily. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour. The Welcome Center Staff Member is the first point of contact for members and guests, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment that reflects the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility . This role ensures excellent customer service, handles membership-related tasks, and supports safe and smooth daily operations.
Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and membership software experience is a plus)
- Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail
- Current CPR certification or willing to obtain (YMCA will train)
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests with warmth and professionalism
- Assist with membership inquiries, registrations, and check-ins
- Answer phone calls and provide accurate information about YMCA programs and services
- Handle cash and credit card transactions
- Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area
- Enforce YMCA policies in a respectful and consistent manner
- Respond to member concerns or incidents, escalating issues when necessary
- Support program and facility staff by communicating member needs and scheduling updates
