The role is on-site at our Indianapolis Manufacturing Plant, not a remote opportunity. Scope: The Weigh-Up Lead provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Weigh-Up operation to ensure raw materials are weighed, staged, and managed in sequence while maintaining organization, accuracy, and food safety standards. This role serves as the primary point of coordination between Weigh-Up, Blending, Planning, R&D, Quality, and Inbound Logistics, ensuring smooth execution amid schedule changes and material constraints. The Weigh-Up Lead is responsible for stabilizing daily execution, supporting operators, and maintaining control of weigh-up room activities as volume and complexity continue to increase.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in weigh-up, blending support, warehouse, or food manufacturing operations preferred
  • Strong understanding of material flow, batch execution, and inventory transactions
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-change environment
  • Comfortable working across shifts and flexing hours based on operational needs
  • Must be able to perform the physical functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Extended standing and walking required
  • Must be able to work extended hours, including daily overtime and occasional weekends
  • Must possess visual acuity to verify labels, lot numbers, and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Weigh-Up operations across all weigh-up rooms (large room, small/bulk liquid room, and allergen room).
  • Ensure materials are weighed and staged in the correct sequence to support production schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for real-time schedule changes impacting Weigh-Up execution.
  • Provide direct guidance, coaching, and support to Weigh-Up Operators throughout the shift.
  • Answer process, system, and execution questions from operators.
  • Provide shift coverage or adjust staffing as needed to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Coordinate with Inbound, Logistics, and Quality to manage material availability and release timing.
  • Communicate proactively with Planning, R&D, and Blending Supervisors regarding special jobs, rework, or changes requiring additional attention.
  • Escalate risks or constraints that could impact production readiness.
  • Ensure all weigh-up kits are audited prior to release.
  • Oversee batch card printing and verify quantities to prevent inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor weigh-up room inventory and ensure materials are properly staged, labeled, and accounted for.
  • Maintain organization of all weigh-up rooms, racks, and staging areas using 5S principles.
  • Ensure proper handling of partial containers, returns, and empty container storage.
  • Reinforce adherence to SOPs, GMPs, allergen controls, SQF, and HACCP requirements.
  • Train and reinforce proper system transactions (bin transfers, material requests, replenishment, returns).
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of Weigh-Up Operators.
  • Identify process gaps and partner with leadership to implement improvements.
  • Promote safety and conduct all activities in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Participate in audits, walkthroughs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other leadership responsibilities as assigned.
